Apple Crisp

A recipe from my mom.
Ingredients:
Filling:
- 4 Jonagold apples (find a local orchard and buy them there)
- 3 Granny Smith apples
- 5 Macintosh apples
- 1-1/2 cup sugar (Amazon or Amazon)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon (Amazon)
- 1/2 teaspoon iodized sea salt (Amazon)
- 1 cup King Arthur Gluten Free Measure for Measure Flour (Amazon)
- 1/4 cup corn starch (Amazon)
Crumb topping:
- 1 cup Spectrum Organic Palm Oil Shortening (Meijer)
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (Amazon)
- 1 cup light brown sugar (Amazon)
- 1 cup King Arthur Gluten Free Measure for Measure Flour (Amazon)
- Cinnamon (Amazon)
- 1/2 teaspoon iodized sea salt (Amazon)
- 3-4 cups Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal (Amazon)
Dishes you'll have to wash:
- Apple peeler (something like this on Amazon)
- Bowls
- Measuring cups and spoons
- 11"x15"-ish glass baking pan (Amazon)
- Food processor
Instructions:
- Peel and slice all 12 apples and add to a mixing bowl for filling
- Complete the filling by adding and stirring in: sugar, sinnamon, salt, flour, and corn starch.
- Spread filling into the glass baking pan.
- For the crumb topping, in the food processor, combine: palm oil shortening, dark brown sugar, light brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pulse the food processor to mix together. Don't process until it turns into a paste. You just want it mostly thoroughly mixed.
- Dump food processor out into a bowl.
- Stir in oatmeal into the crumb topping.
- Spread crumb topping over the filling in the glass baking pan.
- Drizzle avocado oil over the top.
- Bake in oven at 350°F for 1 hour 15 minutes. After that, test it by poking a knife in every 5 minutes and keep cooking until the apples are soft.
